During late 2017, the Old Minsmere River, that runs through the RSPB Minsmere Reserve has been cleaned out by the Internal Drainage Board, part of the Water Management Alliance. The results can be seen just north and east of the bridge across the New Cut where the channel is now very visible and full at this time of the year. Clearance of the channel will help alleviate flooding in the upper levels and assist RSPB to manage the various water levels within the reserve where in excess of 100 weirs and sluices are present to control the various pools, channels and scrapes.
